Ecoxy increases the staff

		December 1st 2011 Paal Erlend Strand started as project engineer at Ecoxy. He is B.Sc. in marine engineering graduated from Sør-Trøndelag University Collage in Trondheim (HiST). He was chief engineer at KV Nornen in the Norwegian Coast Guard before joining Ecoxy. We welcome Paal as a new staff member.

Increased activity for NOx emission measurements

Ecoxy AS experience an increased number of inquiries for NOx emission measurements for the moment. The number of measurements for the last 4 months of 2011 seems to match the total number for the previousg 8 months.
Measurements onboard ships are now mostly performed for verification of NOx fund projects.

PEMS contract with A/S Norske Shell

A/S Norske Shell has contracted Ecoxy AS for delivery of Predictive Emission Measurement Systems (PEMS) for 5 gas turbines onboard the Draugen Platform. These systems will ensure compliance with the requirements for accurate reporting of NOx emissions issued by the Norwegian Authorities.

The Business sector’s NOX fund now supports NOX measurements.

In 2011 and 2012 the NOX fund will give financial support to NOX measurements. The support will be 80 % of the cost, but limited to NOK 60.000,- pr vessel. For drilling rigs the limit is set to NOK 100.000,-. The measurements have to be performed by an accredited body.

Ecoxys has expeienced that about 80 % of all measured engines have an emission factor less the standard factor given by the authorities. Some engines carrying an EIAPP certificate may also have an emission factor less what is indicated in the certificate.

Through contracts on more than 400 energy plants on ships, drilling rigs and land based industries since May 2007 Ecoxy has gained wide experience in doing NOX emission measurements. Our engineers have engine and propulsion system competence to safeguard correct test conditions when performing the measurements. This is very important for calculating the actual NOX reduction and financial support correctly.

Ecoxy supplies PEMS solution to Ula for accurate reporting of NOx emissions

In order to satisfy regulatory requirements regarding the reporting of NOx emissions from Ula platform, BP has signed a contract with Ecoxy AS for delivery of a PEMS solution. PEMS, which stands for Predictive Emission Monitoring System, is a computer system that calculates the NOx emissions based on process data of the system under study. In this case a gas turbine is the NOx source.

Ecoxy will be responsible for the delivery of the system, establish a data model and make verification measurements. At present, Ecoxy is the only Norwegian accredited mobile laboratory for measuring NOx from gas turbines.

Ecoxy ISO 9001 certified

May 10th 2010 Ecoxy became certified according to ISO 9001:2008. The certification was performed by  Det norske Veritas (DnV) and covers the following areas:

• Measurements, analysis and calculations of emissions to air
• Project Management and Consultancy Services in:
                           - Rotating Equipment, Operation and Maintenance including Condition Monitoring
                           - Thermal Processes
• Design, engineering, fabrication, installation and testing of systems for emission reduction.
• Product development and technology qualification

Ecoxy’s laboratory became accredited in May 2008 according to ISO 17025 for performing measurements on gas turbines (ISO11042) diesel engines (ISO8178)

NOx-measurements according to the Norwegian tax-regime

By April 1st 2010 the requirements to the competent bodies performing emission measurements under the Norwegian Maritime Directorates sphere of authority was changed. From this date, all competent bodies shall be accredited for this service. 

Ecoxy has performed NOx emission measurements on more than 300 ships, drilling rigs, oil platforms and onshore plants. Technoports award for innovative environmental technologies for 2009

Technoports award for innovative environmental technologies for 2009 was awarded Ecoxy AS during a ceremony at the student society in Trondheim 13 October. The award was presented by the Division Director of Innovation Norway Siri Bjerke. Behind the award stands County municipalities in Sør-Trøndelag and Nord-Trondelag, Trondheim city and the Innovation Norway. The price is at NOK 150.000. It is Ecoxys work for the development of technology for cleaner and more efficient combustion in gas turbines, diesel engines and furnaces as the jury has emphasized. Ecoxy has in its portfolio, both proprietary technology and technology developed in collaboration with others.
Ecoxy look at the price as a recognition for the work done and as an inspiration for the work ahead.
Ecoxy currently has 9 employees and a turnover in 2008 of NOK 17 million. Net income was NOK 3.3 million before tax.

In his acceptance speech emphasized Ecoxys CEO Bjorn Haukebø several of its partners. Including the Innovation Center Gløshaugen, NTNU, NTNU Technology Transfer Office, StatoilHydro, the Research council of Norway, Innovation Norway, Gassco, Marinteks engine laboratory, Seadrill and Hurtigruten. Haukebø also thanked its employees for creativity, perseverance and good cooperation.

Statnet hires Ecoxy's Gas Turbine Expertise

Positive feedback from customer satisfaction surveys in 2008

As part of Ecoxys system for continuous improvement was implemented customer satisfaction survey among all customers in the NOx measurement. Average customer satisfaction on the measurable parameters was 5.2 on a scale from 1 to 6 where 6 is best. Ecoxys quality goal is to exceed 4.5.

High quality, delivery on time and competitive prices are important keywords for Ecoxys business. We will do our utmost to satisfy customers' needs in the future.

Ecoxys laboratory services accredited

28. May 2008 was Ecoxys laboratory services accredited under ISO 17025 (laboratory services), ISO 8178 (flue gas analysis on diesel engines) and ISO 11042 (flue gas analysis on gas turbines).

Ecoxy achieve this accreditation status as the first Norwegian player for online (direct analysis) for diesel engines and gas turbines. Thus satisfies Ecoxy NMD requirements implemented April 1, 2010 that all the measurement of NOx within their jurisdiction shall be accredited. It's Norwegian Accreditation which is the only one who has the authority to conduct technical accreditation in Norway. Norwegian Accreditation is an agency under the The Ministry of Trade and Industry .

Accreditation means that the whole process with their support processes have been reviewed by Norwegian Accreditation and foreign experts.

For shipping companies, rigging companies and operating companies can now be carried exhaust gas with the greatest possible degree of accuracy.

The introduction of NOx tax from 1 January 2007 has resulted in a significant activity to quantify the NOx emissions from sources that are imposed NOx tax. In particular, the emission sources subject to NMD jurisdiction in demand accurate emissions measurements. Ie. ships and mobile offshore drilling rigs.

Ecoxy has now conducted surveys of more than 300 sites.
